Wireless Weather Station
Wireless weather stations have fast become the reality as we all move away from first hand observations and struggle to know, “What’s just up that embankment?” “What’s over that ridge?” and “where does this road lead?” As we continue to push off into the netherworlds of the unknown and push past our own level of expectation, there’s a funny comfort in knowing that even if we leave this piece of equipment in this barren climate for these untoward number of days, weeks, or months, it will give me the results I’m asking for (based on historical evidence) Weather stations are pieces of equipment which make observations by monitoring atmospheric conditions in the eternal study of the weather. Wireless weather stations just make that task a bit more bearable by not requiring firsthand observation or transference of data. If you’re looking at a typical weather station it’s probably got a thermometer to measure the temperature, a barometer for measuring the barometric pressure, a hygrometer for measuring humidity, an anemometer for recording and measuring wind speed, a wind vane for the detection of wind direction, and a rain gauge for measuring precipitation. It’s kind of comforting, if you think about it, that weather is such a predictable occurrence. Sure we have catastrophes and big weather events but even those are foreseeable within a couple days or hours of the event. It’s nice to know that I can walk out my apartment this morning and not get pelted with hail stones (or, if I did, then I might want to think about something else to be doing this morning than whatever I was thinking of) There are many fine manufacturers of wireless weather makers and you should shop around before you invest in one of these guys. La Crosse technology is a great name in wireless weather stations. Orgeon Scientific is another fine maker of deluxe weather stations. Honeywell makes a great model TE923W weather station. Davis is a smaller name brand weather station. And the tractor giant John Deere has even crossed over into the weather station production. Should you have any questions about any of these manufacturers, there are a host of reviews for you to read and have a look at before you put the money down for a weather station. These reviews would be available in print or online depending on where you are and what type of resources you have at your disposal.
